Accurate
press-profiled colour proofing
Colour-accurate proofs, on time, every
time.
In the initial stages of building a colour-accurate proofing workflow, we supply
a test file for our print clientelle to run through their press to standard ink
weights and density measurements. This "finger print" tells us exactly
how that press is behaving, and gives also gives us an accurate measurement of
it's colour gamut. The colour gamut of a printing press is a description of the
range of colours which it can achieve using the standard 4 colour process printing
inks. Every printing press has it's own colour gamut and characteristics. Even
supposedly identical presses from the same manufacturer will differ, this is
why fingerprinting and subsequent ICC profiling is currently the only way to
achieve consistent, press-specific colour proofs.
Following on from the fingerprint trials, we take the printed sheets and read
these into a colour management system. This produces an ICC profile, which is
then fed into our proofing workflow. The colour gamut and primary inks colours
of the inkjet proofing device are then altered "on the fly" to that
of the printing press, giving a true representation of the final printed document.
We can also fingerprint printing presses on different printing stocks, so if
a client has a press with it's own unique dot gain characterisitics, printing
on plastic, we can replicate that too.
In addition, we can also supply Digital Cromalin Proofs, to certified Euroscale
Standard, on standard Cromalin paper stock.
Using transfer intermediates, we can also provide this service
onto folding box board and plastic substrates.
